Harry ‘Terminator’ Simon will meet ex-convict Paulus ‘Ninja’ Shimweefeleni on 7 December at a venue yet to be revealed.
The exhibition fight, announced at a press conference in Windhoek on 3 October, is part of the undercards to the MTC Salute Boxing Academy’s boxing bonanza.
The exhibition fight aims to end the country’s crime under the Ninja Against Crime Prevention initiative.
The fight also needs financial assistance, especially from the corporate world.
At 52, Simon is the only undefeated active boxer in the world in 30 years.
Simon is a two-weight world champion who held the WBO junior middleweight title from 1998 to 2001 and the WBO middleweight title in 2002.
Simon has a record of 31 fights, no loss and 31 wins.
He last fought professionally against Kaminjah Ramadhan of Tanzania at the Ramatex factory hall in 2018.
Simon went on to win courtesy of a Technical Knockout.
Nicknamed the Terminator, Simon has not exchanged any blows inside the ring since that fight.
“I did not retire. People like saying that I have retired. I am currently focusing on the upcoming exhibition fight.
“But if someone out there wants to set up a fight (professional but called out I will fight,” said Simon.
Shimweefelein, who had spent 25 years behind bars, was released from custody in March this year.
Shimweefeleni has told Simon that he will do all he can to win.
Ironically, Shimweefelni said he had done Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) before, meaning he could handle Simon.
“I grew up in a country where boxing is made, and that is being Cuba. It is only that time did not catch up with me because I was behind bars. That is when you are going to see who I am when it comes to sport. To your question, if I was a boxer, yes, because if you talk of kickboxing and MMA they are also part of boxing,” said Shimweefeleni.
